The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS)

Dr. Ellerbe is a diplomate of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The ABFPRS was established in 1986 to improve the quality of medical and surgical treatment available to the public by examining for professional expertise in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The ABFPRS focuses on the education, qualification, training, review, and certification of surgeons specializing in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

The American Board of Otolaryngology (ABOto)

Dr. Ellerbe and Dr. Schaffer are diplomates of The American Board of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery). The ABOto ensures that its diplomates have met the ABOto’s professional standards of training and knowledge in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery. Diplomates are required to have completed a minimum of five years of surgical residency training in otolaryngology after graduation from medical school, received approval of the training Program Director, and successfully completed a rigorous written and oral examination process administered by the ABOto.

American College of Surgeons (ACS)

Dr. Schaffer is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.

American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS)

Dr. Ellerbe is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The AAFPRS is the world’s largest specialty association that represents over 2,700 facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons throughout the world. AAFPRS members are board certified surgeons who subscribe to a code of ethics and focus on surgery of the face, head, and neck.

American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS)

Dr. Ellerbe and Dr. Schaffer are members of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. The AAO-HNS is the world’s largest organization representing specialists who treat the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. The Academy represents more than 12,000 otolaryngologists – head and neck surgeons who diagnose and treat disorders of those areas.

The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP)

Dr. Ellerbe is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics. Founded in 1933, the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). The ABP is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence.
