Can You Combine Moxi® With Other Treatments?

Since its arrival in 2020, the Moxi laser has quickly become one of the most popular skin rejuvenation treatments we offer at FACES Med Spa. Its gentle, no-downtime approach is ideal for people who are noticing the first signs of aging—or those who are looking for a “prejuvenation” treatment to keep skin looking youthful before aging starts taking a toll. As effective as Moxi is on its own, people often ask us if they can combine MOXI with other treatments.

The answer is a resounding yes. Using combination laser therapies is widely accepted as one of the most successful treatment approaches for cosmetic patients. Moxi pairs well with several other procedures, such as BBL® HERO™ (High Energy Rapid Output) and cosmetic injectables.

What Are the Benefits of Combining Treatments?

Combining nonsurgical cosmetic treatments is an excellent way to maximize the effectiveness and results of the various procedures. A comprehensive approach to skin rejuvenation using different laser technologies produces results that go beyond what you’d see with a single type of laser. That also holds true for non-laser treatments. Additionally, the cost of a combination treatment package can save patients thousands of dollars compared to purchasing laser treatment sessions individually.

What Is Moxi?

Moxi is a fractional, non-ablative laser that we use on all skin tones. A fractional, non-ablative laser penetrates the skin by creating thousands of microchannels without damaging the skin’s surface. Gentle but effective, Moxi is a great option for reducing hyperpigmentation (skin discoloration), smoothing rough skin, or getting ahead of the skin’s aging process and delaying the onset of lines and wrinkles.

Moxi and BBL HERO

BBL—broadband light—is the most advanced type of intense pulsed light (IPL) currently available. Combining Moxi with the BBL HERO treatment provides a double whammy, addressing a wide range of skin conditions that just one of the devices could not accomplish. BBL HERO heats the deeper layers of the skin using light energy, which improves conditions such as cherry angiomas, port wine stains, redness, and spider veins. It can also treat acne and acne scarring. A study from the Journal of Investigative Dermatology showed that BBL light therapy treatments promote gene expression that’s typically associated with youthful skin.

When combining Moxi and HERO, your provider first uses the BBL laser to break up skin pigmentation. Your provider then treats the skin with the non-ablative Moxi laser, which addresses the deeper dermal layer of the skin to spur cell turnover. Together, the treatments create a smoother, more even complexion—they can even tighten lax skin.

The intensity of the HERO device is highly customizable, so it can be more aggressive than the Moxi while still requiring little to no downtime. That makes it an ideal complementary treatment when paired with Moxi.

Moxi and HALO® Laser

The Moxi laser facial also works well with HALO, a hybrid laser treatment, because it enhances and extends the results of the more aggressive procedure. HALO combines both non-ablative and ablative fractional resurfacing and can treat sun damage, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and rough skin.

Moxi and BOTOX® Cosmetic

Most people know that BOTOX is an extremely popular treatment to minimize lines and wrinkles around the eyes, such as crow’s feet and vertical worry lines above the bridge of the nose. Less well-known is that BOTOX injections—like Moxi laser treatments—can help postpone the appearance of wrinkles. Combining Moxi with BOTOX as part of a “prejuvenation” package is a great way to address signs of aging before they get a foothold. BOTOX works by intercepting signals sent by the nervous system to the tiny muscles that control facial movements, such as squinting and frowning. Relaxing these muscles means wrinkles won’t develop as soon as they would without injections.

Moxi and Fillers

Dermal fillers such as the JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® family of products reverse signs of aging by adding volume when injected deep into the skin. We use fillers for patients who want to reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds, treat under-eye hollows, correct age-related volume loss in the cheeks, and create a more lifted overall appearance. In some cases, we may recommend scheduling a Moxi treatment and filler injections for different appointments, but in many cases, they can be performed on the same day.

Our providers at FACES Med Spa are exceptionally qualified and can recommend the ideal combination of treatments to address whatever concerns you may have. You can request a consultation using the online form to discuss your needs or call us at (907) 279-8800 to schedule an appointment.
