About Sun Damage & Wrinkles

The lines and wrinkles that we often associate with the normal signs of aging are actually caused by sun exposure. The sun's UV rays damage skin proteins, including elastin and collagen, which results in skin that sags, wrinkles, and loses its ability to shrink back after being stretched.

Protecting your skin with sunscreen daily helps prevent or delay a range of skin conditions. Most people know that sun exposure causes pre-cancerous and cancerous skin lesions, including melanoma. Cosmetic conditions related to sun damage include:

  • Fine and coarse wrinkles
  • Freckles and age spots
  • Sallowness (yellow discoloration of the skin)
  • Visible blood vessels and Spider veins
  • Elastosis (destruction of elastic and collagen tissue)

Treating Sun Damage & Wrinkles

Laser skin procedures: We offer laser and light therapies to stimulate collagen production and target unwanted pigment.

Chemical peels: Medical grade chemical peels exfoliate the skin and spur new collagen growth. They can be especially effective when combined with laser treatments.

BOTOX® Cosmetic: This neurotoxin temporarily relaxes wrinkles around the eyes and forehead.

Injectable fillers: These products add volume to fill lines, folds, and wrinkles.
