Dermaplaning

Dullness, dryness, and damage are often limited to the outermost layers of the skin. But exfoliating products meant for at-home use can be damaging to skin and don’t always create the results you want. Dermaplaning is a controlled, clinical treatment that sloughs away these outer layers, revealing the soft, healthy complexion beneath. Dermaplaning at our Anchorage med spa is a great complement to your normal skincare regimen.

How It Works

Dermaplaning is essentially the controlled scraping of the skin using a sterile surgical blade. At ACENT, only our trained skincare providers perform dermaplaning. The blade is held at a precise 45-degree angle. This allows for the removal of keratinized cells (dead skin) as well as fine vellus hair, otherwise known as “peach fuzz.”

Dermaplaning immediately rejuvenates the skin by removing the outermost layer of dead skin. It is highly effective at minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also leaving skin smooth, supple, and vibrant.

Dermaplaning is great for prepping skin prior to a peel and increases the penetration of active ingredients in both clinical and home skincare products. Makeup goes on smoother and skin glows! It’s the perfect treatment to undergo before a special event.

In case dermaplaning isn’t right for you, we may recommend a facial or even microneedling to help you safely achieve your goals.

Our highly-trained providers look forward to meeting you and answering all of your questions.

What to Expect

Dermaplaning is performed here in our office. The procedure is relatively brief and comfortable. Because dermaplaning doesn’t require downtime, patients can enjoy their results instantly. After treatment, the skin will look revitalized and smoother, with no vellus hair, either. These hairs won’t grow back any darker or thicker.

We recommend a treatment every 4 to 6 weeks.

You may also undergo Dermaplane Deluxe, a procedure that includes cleansing, dermaplaning, an enzyme treatment, and a hydrating mask.
