You probably already exfoliate at home, but is it giving you the results you want? Microneedling at our Anchorage medical spa can do what washcloths and scrubs can’t—stimulate your skin’s collagen development and reduce the look of several common skin concerns.
How It Works
At ACENT, we use the SkinPen® microneedling device. SkinPen, a pen-shaped device fitted with a number of fine, sterile needles at its tip, causes micro-injuries on the outermost layers of skin. These micro-injuries trigger the body to create more collagen and elastin. Microneedling improves both the texture and tone of skin. It can also reduce the look of stretch marks and acne scars.
SkinPen is the only microneedling device that’s approved by the FDA.

What to Expect
When you visit our office in Anchorage for microneedling, we first apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to keep you comfortable. Your provider then moves the SkinPen across your skin, as it works quickly to make micro-injuries in your skin.
After your treatment, which likely won’t exceed an hour, your skin will appear pink or red. It may also feel inflamed, as if you have a moderate sunburn. Other side effects include dryness, tightness, redness, itchiness, and flaking. However, these symptoms are usually self-limiting and resolve within 2 days.
Patients with moderate to severe acne scarring will likely benefit from multiple treatments. A series of 3 treatments is appropriate for reducing certain signs of aging.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have active acne breakouts, microneedling isn’t a good match for you. However, we can recommend other treatments, such as a facial or dermaplaning, that can safely give you the results you want.
We offer single sessions as well as packages of 3 treatments. During your consultation, we’ll work with you to recommend the best possible solution for you.
