Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Plastic surgery can reverse much of the sagging and drooping around the eyes that can make you look older and tired. Blepharoplasty, commonly called eyelid surgery, in Anchorage, Alaska, is one of the most popular types of facial plastic surgery chosen by the men and women who visit ACENT from Wasilla, Palmer, and surrounding areas.

Procedure

Blepharoplasty is a relatively minor procedure that can make a profound improvement in your appearance. In certain cases, patients may choose to have a brow lift performed as well to optimize their facial rejuvenation. While it can be performed under general anesthesia, most patients elect to have it performed in our office using a local anesthetic, meaning you will be awake but relaxed during the entire process. It generally takes an hour or less if the procedure is limited to the upper eyelid. If you have surgery on both upper and lower eyelids, the procedure will take more than 2 hours. Incisions made during surgery are designed to be hidden in the eyelids’ natural creases.

My upper and lower eye lift turned out wonderful. All eyelid droopiness, under-eye fatty pockets and sagging skin - now gone. You can barely see the scar and I haven't even finished healing yet. I'm 50 and lovin' it. Thank you!

Asian Eyelid Surgery

Some Asian women and men desire a more pronounced crease in the upper eyelids, either for aesthetic reasons or to ease the use of makeup. Alaska residents have turned to ACENT’s experienced surgeons for this specialized procedure. Our surgeons strive to work closely with you on placement and contour of the new eyelid crease to help you achieve your desired appearance.

Recovery

Some swelling and bruising are normal after eyelid surgery. You may also experience mild discomfort or irritation after surgery. Head elevation and cold compresses over your eyelids help minimize these symptoms. Significant swelling and bruising rarely last beyond 2 weeks and most patients are presentable within a week to 10 days.

If you’d like to improve droopy eyelids, request a consultation online or call our office at  (907) 279-8800 to schedule an appointment to talk with a member of our team about your options.
