Halo® Laser

Sun exposure and the natural aging process gradually cause wrinkles, age spots, fine lines, and dull, rough skin. The Halo hybrid fractional laser represents a breakthrough in laser skin resurfacing technology. It can target both the top layer of your skin and the deeper tissue below during a single treatment without the downtime typically needed after laser skin treatments. FACES Med Spa in Anchorage, Alaska, offers Halo laser skin resurfacing for women and men from Wasilla, Palmer, and surrounding areas who want to restore their skin’s youthful glow.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Halo Laser Treatments?

Ideal candidates for Halo laser treatments are women and men concerned about sun damage, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and rough skin but who want a procedure that doesn’t require extensive downtime. We can customize Halo treatments to fit the needs of each patient.

How Does Halo Work?

Halo’s 2 wavelengths repair visible signs of aging and sun damage—discoloration, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone—on your skin’s surface while at the same time stimulating collagen production in the tissue below the surface for firmer, smoother skin over time. If patients don’t mind a longer recovery time, providers can dial up the intensity to produce more dramatic results.

What Skin Concerns Does Halo Treat?

HALO precisely targets years of damage to your skin, including:

  • Wrinkles
  • Discoloration
  • Sun damage
  • Visible signs of aging
  • Enlarged pores
  • Poor skin appearance

Halo is typically used on the face, neck, décolletage, arms, hands, and legs. We recommend combining Halo with BBL™ BroadBand Light treatments to produce even better results.

I have been going to the Medical Spa for several years and have been enormously pleased with how they've kept up with the latest technology and available treatments. They provide me with the information I need to make good decisions, don't keep me waiting when I arrive and always make sure I am comfortable throughout the procedures. [They] explain what [they are] doing and adjust [their] pace to fit my tolerance, if necessary. I have been quite pleased with the results I've had from the Medical Spa.

What Happens During a Halo Laser Treatment?

Customized Halo laser skin rejuvenation treatments begin with applying a topical anesthetic that numbs the target area. When you’re ready for the procedure, one of our laser technicians moves the handpiece across the treatment area, delivering both wavelengths at the same time. Patients often say they feel a warm, prickly sensation, and some report it feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Most patients tolerate any discomfort quite well.

A treatment typically takes 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area you’re treating. After the treatment, we’ll apply a special moisturizer that also helps protect the area.

What Is Recovery Like?

The recovery following a Halo laser treatment typically involves:

  • Redness that peaks during the first few days after treatment
  • Pinpoint bleeding that lasts only a few hours in most cases
  • Swelling immediately after the treatment, which is most noticeable the morning after the procedure
  • A sensation of warmth for 12 to 24 hours

Cold compresses or ice packs used during the initial 48 hours after the treatment can help reduce swelling and relieve any discomfort you might experience.

About 2 to 3 days after the procedure, patients notice tiny dark spots and a bronzed appearance, a condition known as MENDS that is part of the healing process. During this time, the skin is very dry and begins flaking and peeling. This can last 5 to 7 days for the face and up to 2 weeks for the chest, neck, or elsewhere on the body.

When Do You See Results?

Because the Halo laser delivers 2 distinct wavelengths of light, the results emerge in 2 phases. You’ll see the initial results within 5 to 7 days as the skin peels and reveals fresh, healthy skin. It can take up to 6 to 8 weeks for long-term results to appear as your skin’s texture becomes smoother and pores shrink.
