John Kokesh, MD, Physician

John Kokesh, MD, completed medical school at the University of Washington in 1988. He completed 2 years of General Surgery training at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, and then in 1994 completed residency in Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Washington. He began his practice at the Alaska Native Medical Center in 1994 and served as Medical Director of the Department of Otolaryngology from 1997 through 2019. Dr. Kokesh was Chairman of the Surgical Services Executive Committee from 2010 through 2019. He has traveled and provided ENT care throughout Alaska. Dr. Kokesh helped develop the AFHCAN Telemedicine program since its inception in 1998, and is a recognized leader in that field. Dr. Kokesh has authored papers and presented both nationally and internationally on the Alaska telemedicine experience. He holds a clinical faculty appointment at the University of Washington and is a fellow of the American Board of Otolaryngology. Dr. Kokesh is a valued member of our ENT team in Anchorage serving our patients from Wasilla, Palmer, and surrounding areas.
